RIM hits 3 billion BlackBerry app downloads

Despite RIM’s recent financial troubles, the company is celebrating the significant support the App World has received.

The BlackBerry service has garnered over three billion downloads since its launch, with 2.5 million downloads daily.

Research in Motion see the large number as “myth busting” in reply to the notion that there aren’t any apps for BlackBerry handsets and the Playbook tablet.

There are currently over 90,000 apps for sale on BlackBerry’s App World service.
