Microsoft is hiring in South Africa — 8 jobs you can apply for now

Microsoft is advertising eight vacancies at its Johannesburg offices, including roles in AI, sales, cloud infrastructure, and internships for recent graduates.

The company’s offices are in Sandton; however, most positions offer hybrid working arrangements.

All full-time positions also offer the same benefits, which include healthcare, discounts on products and services, “generous time away,” and educational resources.

The company has a very straightforward hiring process. Once a candidate has applied, their application will be reviewed. If successful, they will be invited for an interview with two to four people.

After a successful interview, candidates will receive an offer, and if they accept, they will be pre-onboarded and hired.

The latest position advertised is Africa Enterprise Commercial (EC) Finance Manager, where the successful candidate will be the front-end specialist for structuring and providing insights into large deals.

Candidates must have experience in a similar role, extensive experience in finance, and experience with a multinational company to apply.

Microsoft prefers that candidates have a BA, BSC, or MBA in finance or economics.

The position allows successful candidates to work from home up to 50% of the time.

Two cloud solution architecture positions are available: one for data security and the other for Azure AI and machine learning.

Both positions require a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, engineering, business or a related field.

The data security position requires applicants to have three or more years of experience in data security or information security management and three or more years in cloud infrastructure.

The successful candidate will protect sensitive data using data classification, manage insider risks using machine learning, and prevent data loss.

They can work from home up to 50% of their working hours.

The Azure AI and machine learning position requires proven experience in cloud infrastructure, IT consulting, system administration, network operations, or software development.

Candidates must also prove they have experience with enterprise-scale technical delivery, Azure AI Services, and creating AI proof of concepts and minimum viable products.

There is the option to do all work remotely in this position.

Microsoft’s Innovation Hub needs a technical architect for security. The subsidiary helps businesses build cross-workload solutions. In Microsoft’s words, “Our senior architects help customers understand what’s possible and make it real.”

Candidates require eight or more years of technical consulting experience and a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information technology, or a related field.

There is no hybrid arrangement for this position as it is client-facing.

Microsoft has an AI national skills director position available for those with extensive experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, NGOs, or government — and an interest in AI.

Microsoft lists the position’s responsibilities as developing and executing strategic partnerships and landing global Microsoft skilling programs. The position essentially focuses on expanding Microsoft’s AI National Skill Initiative.

In addition to the aforementioned experience, candidates also require a bachelor’s degree and three years of working in or with a large, matrixed organisation.

There are also three full-time internship positions available. All three are 12 months long.

The internships include account technology strategist, sales specialist, and account executive.

All require that the candidate be pursuing or has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Information technology, sales, marketing, computer science, business operations, business administration, or a similar field within the last six months.

The sales position will see interns gain experience with Microsft’s 3-cloud platform, convert leads into opportunities, and collaborate with commercial partners.

Account technology strategist interns are the main connection point between Microsoft and its partners. Therefore, interns must develop an understanding of the client’s industry and create value proposition presentations.

The account executive intern will need to seek feedback from customers, orchestrate extended virtual teams, share and recommend Microsoft solutions to customers, and develop strategies to secure buy-in and plan execution.
