Facebook creates calendar view for events

Facebook has announced an improved format for Facebook Events, allowing members to view all friends’ upcoming birthdays, event invites and suggested events on a digital calendar.

The calendar was built as part of a hackathon project by users looking to improve the site’s functionality.

“A couple of us felt there should be a better way for people to see their friends’ birthdays a few days in advance and make plans for the weekend. So we built it,” explained Facebook software engineer, Bob Baldwin in a note on Facebook.

The new additions also allow users to respond to invites and leave birthday messages without leaving the events page, along with posting photos, posts and videos about the event on the page.
