Didata buys into Namibia’s ICT Holdings
The formation of the partnership between ICT and Dimension Data also marked the launch of Dimension Data Namibia. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The revenue of ICT Holdings Namibia for the 12 months to June 2006 was US$3.5 million.
Founded in 1999, ICT provides Information Technology services to the O&L Group and other leading clients in Namibia. O&L, one of the largest private sector employers in Namibia, has interests in food production, fishing, beverages, farming, retail trade, information technology, property development, leisure and hospitality, marine engineering and the service sector.
"O&L has a long business relationship with Dimension Data South Africa. This relationship has, over the years, matured into a fully-fledged, mutually beneficial partnership. I am pleased that we have attracted a superior partner in respect of Information Technology and believe Dimension Data Namibia will be a very successful venture," commented Sven Thieme, Executive Chairman of the Ohlthaver & List Group.
He added that the combination of the local expertise and knowledge of ICT with the global best practice, access to IT experts and centres of excellence that Dimension Data offer, positioned Dimension Data Namibia as the ideal partner for businesses wanting to gain competitive advantage through technology innovation.
ICT has an employee complement of 40 dedicated professionals in Namibia with points of presence in the capital Windhoek and at the coast, Walvis Bay. All employees would be transferred to Dimension Data Namibia.

Dimension Data Namibia has partnerships with leading technology companies including Cisco, Microsoft, and Hewlett Packard. The group also has a solid client base including Telecom Namibia, Namibian Airports Company, Nampower, NamPost and O&L Group companies.
