Telkom promises improved broadband provisioning for new developments

PD Connect should help alleviate some of the frustration of delays in provisioning telecommunication services to new developments, stated Steven Hayward the managing executive for retail marketing at Telkom. Telkom hopes to assist property developers to attract high profile tenets by speeding up the provisioning of services through PD Connect to new developments.

“Buying a new home or business property can be quite exciting, but it can be a nightmare once you discover that there are no telephone lines or broadband connectivity. PD Connect will ensure that property developers bring this solution to potential home and business owners,” says Hayward.

Property developers wanting to benefit from this service will have to register on the Telkom website and will then be able to track the progress of their order through their registration number.

According to Telkom by registering developers will assist the incumbent operator to plan in advance to “ensure that telecommunication infrastructure is made available on those specific developments.”

“Once developers have registered, they will receive a unique tracking number which will put property developers in direct contact with Telkom through a Business Administrator. Telkom will also be in touch with buyers to establish their communication needs to ensure that the service is installed before they move in,” says Hayward.

This service is exclusive to gated complexes so for those of you in individual houses waiting for an installation you will unfortunately still have to queue via the normal route.

But it is good to see Telkom working on initiatives that will cut down the waiting period which is currently forcing new customers to look elsewhere for their telecommunication services.

“This initiative will ensure that customers would not have to wait for lengthy periods to get access to a telephone line. PD Connect will take the burden off property developers and it will ensure the telecommunication requirements of each customer is expeditiously met,” Hayward concluded.
