Only 25% of Android users upgraded to newer versions

Happy Android

Only 25 percent of users upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

According to a distribution report, only 23.7 percent upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich, with Jelly Bean upgrades trailing behind at 1.8 percent.

The data was collected from various Android devices that accessed the Google Play store for upgrades.

The data also revealed that more than half of Android users are still using some iteration of Gingerbread (Android 2.3) – which was released almost two years ago – and 12.9 percent of users are still on Froyo (Android 2.2).

It is said that the low Jelly Bean user numbers could be due to many carriers and phone manufacturers not supporting the 4.1 version just yet.
