Kim Dotcom’s Mega returns to NZ
Kim Dotcom has returned his new service to a New Zealand domain after being suspended by the Gabon government.
Kim Dotcom’s original plan was to register and operate his new file-sharing service, Mega, from a Gabon domain, giving it the url: “Me.ga”.
The Gabonese authorities suspended the site for providing a platform for committing copyright violations.
Dotcom has now moved the service’s home to an NZ domain, Mega.co.nz, saying that it will be better-protected by the NZ government and laws.
Mega was created to prevent US law from taking control of the service, as it allows users to share files that will be encrypted with a key that only those users will have access to.
