NFC dongle for iOS reaches Kickstarter goal

The Kickstarter project which aimed to bring near-field communication (NFC) capabilities to iOS devices, has reached its funding goal.

Reported on earlier in the month, the FloJack is a small dongle which enables NFC by plugging into the 3.5mm headphone jack of an iPhone or iPad device.

The Kickstarter page reveals that the dongle has accumulated over $96,000, beating its $80,000 goal by a fair margin.

Richard Grundy, founder of Flomio, said that “since Apple didn’t include NFC in its latest iPhone version – that’s where we (Flomio) come in. The possibilities are endless.”

The FloJack is compatible with most newer iOS devices, including the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5, the iPod Touch 4th gen and 5th gen, and all iPad models barring for the 1st gen.

There are a number of purchasing options detailed on the FloJack Kickstarter page.
