Computer wizard caught, again
Msomi, charged with 83 charges of fraud involving R20 million and six charges under the Electronic and Telecommunications Act, escaped when he was escorted from the same court on December 9.
He was recaptured while trying to board a bus to Gauteng.
With his ankles shackled, Msomi appeared on Monday with the two suspects who allegedly let him escape — Inspector Makosonkhe Derrick Ndlela, 41, and Constable Sihle Njila, 32.
Ndlela and Njila face charges of aiding Msomi to escape and defeating the ends of justice.
These charges were also added to the list of charges Msomi faces.
Ndlela and Njila are out on bail of R3000 each.
Msomi allegedly imported spy software in the form of computer systems which monitors and records all computer records.
He allegedly captured passwords and diverted payment intended for others into accounts which he created.
Msomi said he wished to apply for bail but prosecutor Pranisha Kassool said he was previously refused bail when he applied for it in the in the same court.
Magistrate Divesh Mootheram said it was unlikely that he would be granted bail in view of the previous refusal and the new escaping charge.
Msomi said he did not need legal representation to be appointed for him but would instruct his own attorney.
The case was postponed to October 30.
