ICASA councilor shortlist unveiled

Parliament’s communications portfolio committee on Tuesday announced the names of candidates shortlisted to be interviewed for four councilor positions on the council of the Independent Communications Authority of SA (Icasa).

Icasa is responsible for the regulation of broadcasting, postal and telecommunications services in South Africa.

Interviews are scheduled to start on Friday.

In a statement, the committee said the shortlisted candidates included:

  1. Joseph Lebooa;
  2. Prof Jacobus van Rooyen;
  3. Josephine Mabotja;
  4. Brenda Ntombela;
  5. Advocate Luthando Mkumatela;
  6. Kathryn Berman;
  7. William Currie;
  8. Kedibone Serero-Chiloane;
  9. Peter Zimri;
  10. Gabriel Magomola;
  11. Mankakane Magagane
  12. Ntombizodwa (Miki) Ndhlovu; and,
  13. John Matisonn.

Committee chairman Ismail Vadi said the list was a “consensus” one, supported by the African National Congress and opposition parties.
