Broadband Value Index: R30 per Mbps
In May 2010 Ookla, the global leader in web-based network diagnostic applications, launched their Net Index, a site designed to foster public research, analysis and discussion of broadband penetration and performance.
In October Ookla extended their Net Index offering to include Value and Promise indices, complementing its existing download, upload and quality indexes.
The new ‘House Value Index’ compares and ranks consumer broadband value around the globe and close to home, allowing the public to evaluate and compare median cost per megabit per second (Mbps) for a given location.
Broadband Value Index results

Bulgarians currently get the best deal with a cost of R4.87 per Mbps per month, followed by citizens of the Republic of Moldova at R7.95 per Mbps and Romania at R9.46 per Mbps.
