Local telecoms CEOs on Twitter
Twitter was launched in 2006, and quickly grew to become one of the most popular communications tools on the Internet.
The curious model based on so-called tweets, text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the user’s profile page, with followers keeping track of these tweets, found favour with Internet users across the globe.
Twitter has grown into an online communications powerhouse with an estimated 190 million users generating 65 million tweets a day.
Twitter has also become a source of news and a platform used by businesses to communicate with customers. It is therefore hardly surprising that many CEOs are active Twitter users.
The South African telecoms arena is no exception with many high profile CEOs using Twitter as both a social communication tool and a platform to discuss matters related to their business.
