Transnet wants 1,800MHz spectrum

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has revealed that Transnet has applied for an allocation of 1,800MHz spectrum.

Transnet has applied for 5MHz in the “centre gap” of the band for use at national ports and harbours, said ICASA.

Its use will be confined to Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Durban Port, East London, Saldanha Port, and Richards Bay.

The regulator has invited all interested stakeholders to submit written comments in respect of the application within 14 working days of the publication of the notice in the Government Gazette.
