Telkom testing migration of mobile Internet traffic to Telkom Internet
Telkom is investigating the migration of Internet traffic from the mobile network to the Telkom Internet network.
MyBroadband has received information that Telkom is busy with a pilot project, where it will move all LTE and mobile traffic across to its fixed ISP – which will benefit from well-established peering and breakout.
Telkom’s group executive for communication Jacqui O’Sullivan confirmed the project.
However, she said the company has not yet taken a decision to move any mobile Internet traffic to Telkom Internet.
“This exploratory initiative will inform whether the migration of mobile Internet traffic to Telkom Internet is viable,” she said.
