Telkom Business Mobile launch plans
Telkom’s mobile operator 8ta was launched in on 14 October 2010, and since then has introduced a variety of prepaid and postpaid products aimed at the consumer market.
Telkom CEO Pinky Moholi said at their financial results presentation that their focus into the future will be on offering fully converged products that marry mobile voice and data services with the quality and resilience of the fixed-line services to both the enterprise and residential markets.
To date Telkom has not launched any mobile services aimed at the business market, but this is set to change later this year.
Brian Armstrong, Telkom’s Senior Managing Executive for Enterprise Markets, said that Telkom Business Mobile products will be launched soon.
These new mobile products will be tailored to suit the needs of the business market, ranging from small business products to services aimed at large corporate clients.
While the products are still under development, Armstrong said that businesses can be guaranteed of a ‘compelling value proposition’.
Telkom Mobile Managing Executive Amith Maharaj said that the new Telkom Business Mobile products will mostly fall under Telkom Mobile, with cooperation between his department and Telkom Business where needed.
Maharaj explained that the business products will have their own Telkom Business SIM cards instead of the consumer 8ta SIMs, and will further have a dedicated business helpdesk and support. “The experience will be a true enterprise experience,” said Maharaj.
Maharaj said that businesses can expect a comprehensive product range from Telkom Business Mobile, including company APNs.
Maharaj reiterated Armstrong’s points that businesses can expect competitive pricing and bundled offerings from Telkom.
