Cool Ideas goes live on SACS – and shows the big latency benefit to the US

Fibre ISP Cool Ideas has gone live on the new South Atlantic Cable System (SACS), which gives it direct paths to South America and North America.

SACS, which connects Angola and Brazil, is owned by Angola Cables and has been designed with 100Gbps coherent WDM technology on an end-to-end solution.

With four fibre pairs, it offers a total design capacity of 40Tbps between Fortaleza in Brazil and Luanda in Angola.

SACS launched commercial services in September. The lower cable distance and more direct routing means that it can offer the lowest latency for Internet traffic from South Africa to the United States.

Angola Cables said SACS offers a high quality of service and improved latency of up to 60% over current routing options.

“The cable will also contribute to reductions in data traffic costs between South America and Africa,” it said.

Cool Ideas customers to benefit from SACS

SACS is now offering Cool Ideas customers lower latency to South America and the United States.
