ICASA compliance reports unveiled

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) today (10 August 2011) announced the publication of their ECS and ECNS compliance reports.

“ICASA has a mandate in terms of the Electronic Communications Act and the ICASA Act to ensure compliance by all licensed entities in the telecommunications, broadcasting and postal sectors,” the regulator said in a press statement today. “We have conducted an assessment of compliance in respect of MTN, Vodacom, Cell C, iBurst (WBS), Neotel, Telkom, Sentech and Internet Solutions for the 2009/2010 financial year.”

The compliance assessments were based on the following regulations: General License Fees; Code of Conduct; People with Disabilities; E-rate; End-User and Subscriber Service Charter; and USAF (Universal Service and Access Fund).

The following tables provide an overview of the performance of Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, Cell C, Neotel, Sentech, iBurst (WBS), and Internet Solutions on the regulations listed above.
