Metrofibre Networx announced today (20 February 2012) that they have expanded their fibre access network to include Linbro Business Park.
The first phase of the implementation of an open access fibre to the premises infrastructure has been completed.
Metrofibre Networx connected the first group of customers to their preferred service providers on Friday the 17th February.
“As part our coverage plans we will constantly bring new areas into our ‘open Access fibre cloud’ thereby enabling our service provider partners to address an ever increasing market,” said Malcolm Kirby, CEO of Metrofibre.
“Our network design is planned to interconnect with as many service providers as possible, giving the end user freedom to choose,” explained Kirby.
Service providers can interconnect with the Metrofibre access network via their 12 POPs in and around Gauteng.
“The busiest POPs are currently, Isando, Rosebank and Midrand, although all POPs have the same capacity and functionality,” continued Kirby. “During the course of 2012 we plan to add an additional 10 POPs to our infrastructure, thereby giving customers and service providers more flexibility and choice.”
