MWEB plans double-play services
MWEB has taken the strategic step to offer both voice and Internet connectivity, setting itself up to become a fully fledged telecommunications provider.
MWEB, with a history of more than 10 years in the Internet industry, has strengthened its alliance with Vodacom and is now able to offer more Vodacom services and products. MWEB will now bundle voice and broadband Internet as part of its service offering.
“MWEB already offers data connectivity options such as ADSL, Vodacom 3G, MTN Data and iBurst. The latest voice offering is in line with MWEB’s strategic direction of becoming a true telecoms player – offering a full range of value-added, converged communications and multimedia services over fixed-line, mobile, wireless and satellite Internet platforms,” says MWEB GM, Natalie Thayer.
In the light of the growing convergence between devices and services, MWEB aims to be the single provider of both voice and data to consumers and businesses.
Thayer added that the suite of products, packaged as MWEB Mobile Voice, will allow for better pricing than buying the products separately.
“There is an increasing trend of convergence between services and devices. Our growing market prefers the accountability and convenience inherent in dealing with a single provider for both voice and data,” Thayer concludes.
