Vodacom launches V-Up Summer with R500 million in rewards and prizes

Vodacom has announced that it will give away R500 million in prizes over the next five months for its V-Up summer promotion.

These prizes include five Toyota Starlet 1.5 XR MT, a Thusano basic solar kit, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Fold5 smartphones, and more cash and tech prizes.

One Toyota Starlet will be given away at the beginning of each month, starting in November.

Several digital content subscriptions, such as a 12-month Prime Video membership and 3GB of streaming data, are also up for grabs.

The promotion is open to Vodacom prepaid, hybrid, and contract customers.

Postpaid subscribers can also enjoy 12 months of Prime Video Mobile Edition when they sign up or upgrade to Red Core and Red Flexi plans.

“Vodacom is capping off its 30th birthday year with a vibrant new V-Up Summer campaign to enable customers to enjoy their festive season to the fullest,” Rishaad Tayob, Vodacom South Africa’s consumer business director, said.

“We are giving away half a billion rand in prizes and rewards as we say thank you to customers for their loyalty to Vodacom as their mobile brand of choice.”

To qualify for these prizes, Vodacom customers must complete preselected V-Up achiever goals in the daily unbox on the VodaPay app.

Subscribers can also participate in the promotion using USSD by dialling *133#.

The VodaPay app gives customers three free daily plays, whereas the USSD channel only allows for one play. Up to five additional plays can be bought daily for one VodaBuck each.

Customers can also access the Achiever and Exclusive to VodaPay V-Up boxes to pre-select and complete a behavioural goal, such as purchasing airtime, spending VodaBucks, watching a video or engaging on Daily V-Up.

This will give them a chance to earn rewards and win further prizes.

All winners will instantly be notified of their rewards and prizes by SMS.

“We are keenly aware that consumers have faced difficulties over the year, from inflation to rising food prices — a recent report reveals that food prices have risen 50% since 2020,” said Tayob.

He said V-Up Summer supports their ambition to make a positive difference in customers’ lives who are facing increasing economic pressure by offering an array of rewards and prizes.

The V-Up Summer promotion will run until 28 March 2025.
