New WACS outage details

The West African Cable System (WACS) has informed its clients that the dates of planned maintenance on the cable system have changed. Repairs will now take place from 14 June and 20 June (originally scheduled for between 4 June and 8 June).

Communication received by MyBroadband stated that there will be maintenance on the submarine cable system to repair a shunt fault on segment 4 of the WACS cable.

Adverse weather conditions lead the repair operation to be postponed, and the shunt fault repair is now expected to be performed between 14 June 2013 and 20 June 2013.

WACS customers will face outages during the repair operation. However, most ADSL services providers indicated that this outage will not impact their subscribers.
