Criminals break into Hawks head office

There was a break-in at the head offices of the Hawks in Silverton early on Wednesday morning, where computers were stolen.

EWN reporter Mandy Wiener said the Hawks confirmed the robbery, and that it will investigate.

The Hawks said the incident was concentrated in the support environment, which includes human resources, finance, and supply chain management.

“The Hawks are still assessing the damage, but can confirm computers stolen,” said Wiener.

“Pause and let this sink in. There was a break in at the offices of the country’s most elite crime fighting unit and computers were stolen.”

In March, the office of the Chief Justice was broken into, and criminals stole computers containing personal information.

In the same month, the Peddie Police Station was robbed, where criminals made off with police R5 assault rifles.

In April, criminals stormed a South African Infantry Battalion Base in Khayelitsha, overpowering guards at the gate and stealing their rifles and ammunition.
