iBurst reaches 50 000 milestone
“The number of South Africans who have chosen to bridge the digital divide with iBurst wireless broadband reached 50 000 this morning,” the company said.
Commenting on the news that iBurst today becomes the second local wireless broadband provider to reach the 50 000 customer milestone, iBurst CEO Thami Mtshali said: “The growth of iBurst since January 2006 has been astonishing and we attribute this to a great product that’s available when people want it.” There are four wireless broadband providers in South Africa.
“We’ll reach 100 000 subscribers during 2008,” added Mr Mtshali.
iBurst now boasts a total complement of over 150 base stations with new sites added to the network almost weekly. The company has set itself a target of 200 base stations by the end of 2007.
The company said that iBurst offers both mobility and reliability because of its smart design. “Few mobile technologies can claim to have a pedigree such as iBurst,” said Mr Mtshali.
