Wireless networking gets a boost

Clear Channel Independent has entered into a partnership with Wireless Africa making it possible to install wireless Internet, Wi-Max, 2G and 3G antennas on all its outdoor billboards.

Clear Channel (CC) currently has around 13 000 billboards across South Africa and Wireless Africa, who has the sole mandate for wireless equipment installation to all the CC billboards in South Africa, says that all the GPS coordinates are available to prospective clients.

Wireless Africa says that it has already done an environmental impact assessment and they have ascertained that there is sufficient space for networking equipment.

“Wireless Africa have done some tests to see if 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi and WiMax equipment would fit within the billboards and have found that there is more than sufficient space within the billboards,” says Adriaan Stander from Wireless Africa.
