iBurst WiMax pricing

iBurst and Vodacom Business have been trialing WBS’s WiMax service over the last few months, and according to the two companies the results and feedback have been positive.

According to iBurst the WiMax technology and network are ready for launch, and that they are just finalising a few internal processes before the products is made available commercially. 

Unconfirmed information suggests that iBurst is planning a commercial launch of their WiMax service on 1 October.

iBurst and Vodacom Business have already indicated that they will target small and medium sized businesses with their WiMax offerings. 

Service offerings

The iBurst WiMax service comes in two basic flavours:  a best effort broadband service and an assured rate service.

The best effort WiMax broadband service will be offered at speeds of 512 Kbps and 1 Mbps, and users will have the option of a 5 GB or 10 GB shaped or unshaped service.

The assured rate WiMax offering, which will compete directly against Telkom’s Diginet leased line services, is offered at speeds ranging between 64 Kbps and 512 Kbps.  Businesses will also have the option of an un-contended or a 1:3 contended service.
