Effective Measure released its South African Mobile Report, which showed that WhatsApp is the most popular mobile instant messaging (IM) service in the country.<\/p>\n

The South African Mobile Report is based on feedback from a survey which was completed by 4,956 desktop Internet users in South Africa.<\/p>\n

According to the report, WhatsApp is used by over 70% of South African IM users, followed by BBM and Facebook Messenger.<\/p>\n

Effective Measure\u2019s report confirms World Wide Worx and Fuseware\u2019s research<\/strong><\/a> which found that more than half of South African adult cellphone users living in cities and towns are using WhatsApp on their phones.<\/p>\n

The SA Social Media Landscape 2014 report showed that the WhatsApp instant messaging app is used by at least 10.6-million South African adults.<\/p>\n
