{"id":100320,"date":"2014-04-09T14:57:23","date_gmt":"2014-04-09T12:57:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=100320"},"modified":"2014-04-09T17:02:30","modified_gmt":"2014-04-09T15:02:30","slug":"multichoice-adds-satellite-capacity-for-digital-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/100320-multichoice-adds-satellite-capacity-for-digital-tv.html","title":{"rendered":"MultiChoice adds satellite capacity for digital TV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Intelsat S.A. announced in a press release on Wednesday, 9 April 2014, that African direct-to-home (DTH) operator <a title=\"MultiChoice\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/216214-MultiChoice\">MultiChoice<\/a>, is using Intelsat capacity to expand the reach of its digital terrestrial television (DTT) offering in Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, MultiChoice will expand its C-band capacity on Intelsat 904 at 60\u00ba East to distribute content to its terrestrial towers for DTT services, Intelsat said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Intelsat, its 904 satellite lets MultiChoice further expand its DTT GOtv product offering to countries in Sub-Saharan Africa where it is already present, including Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Namibia, and Malawi, and to target new countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIntelsat is our primary partner for media satellite solutions in Africa, serving as our platform of choice for our Southern African direct-to-home (DTH) services and our DTT offerings.
