The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa<\/a>) announced in a press statement today (Monday, 14 April 2014) that it has referred the complaint brought by the Democratic Alliance (DA<\/a>) to its Complaints and Compliance Committee (CCC).<\/p>\n

Last week (Friday, 11 April), the DA complained that the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC<\/a>) was censoring the party after the public broadcasters received a notice to pull the DA\u2019s political advertisement.<\/p>\n

According to the SABC, the advert incited violence against South African police officers.<\/p>\n

The DA vowed to bring the matter before Icasa, and Icasa had previously said it would rule on the complaint by the end of today.<\/p>\n

Icasa has now said, \u201cFollowing engagement with the parties, Icasa decided to refer the matter to the Complaints and Compliance Committee (CCC) for adjudication.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CCC is scheduled to hold a public hearing on 17 April 2014 \u201cin an effort to expedite the resolution of the complaint,\u201d Icasa said.<\/p>\n
