Ster-Kinekor<\/a> will begin construction of a new Imax<\/a> theatre at The Grove mall in the east of Pretoria this month (April 2014), the cinema company announced on Twitter today (22 April 2014).<\/p>\n

The expected completion date for the Imax theatre is June 2014, in time for the launch of Transformers Age of Extinction, Ster-Kinekor said.<\/p>\n

News of the new theatre comes after Ster-Kinekor announced the return of Imax to South Africa in September 2013, with the first theatre constructed at Ster-Kinekor\u2019s cinemaplex in Gateway Mall, Durban.<\/p>\n

The Gateway Imax theatre was completed in November 2013 and launched along with the international release of Thor: The Dark World on Imax.<\/p>\n

Ster-Kinekor was contacted to comment on its plans for Imax in the rest of South Africa, but did not respond by the time of publication.<\/p>\n
