South African broadband services are typically associated with high prices and slow speeds, and the recent Broadband & ISP survey confirmed that local broadband subscribers still value price and download speed the most.<\/p>\n
In the survey – which was completed by 1448 broadband subscribers – subjects were asked to order the various components of a broadband service from the most important to the least important. These components included price, download speed, upload speed, latency, support and reliability.<\/p>\n
From the survey feedback an ‘importance value’ was calculated for each component which gives the importance of a component in relation to the other components. The results were not surprising: local broadband users are focus on price and download speeds when purchasing a service.<\/p>\n
The following table provides an overview of which components of a broadband service are the most important to consumers. It should be noted that monthly usage limits (caps) are incorporated in the price of a broadband service.<\/p>\n
