{"id":102503,"date":"2014-05-19T17:38:05","date_gmt":"2014-05-19T15:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=102503"},"modified":"2014-05-19T17:39:14","modified_gmt":"2014-05-19T15:39:14","slug":"hackers-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/102503-hackers-arrested.html","title":{"rendered":"Hackers arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"BodyP1\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Police have arrested around 100 people in global raids against notorious malware being sold complete with &#8220;ransom notes&#8221; to extort money after taking control of computers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyP\" style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;During the course of a worldwide investigation, creators, sellers and users of BlackShades malware were targeted by judicial and law enforcement authorities in 16 different countries,&#8221; Europe-wide police and justice bodies Europol and Eurojust said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyP\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Thousands of people around the world have bought BlackShades RAT (Remote Access Tools) malicious software or malware, which can be used to secretly take control of a user&#8217;s webcam or entire computer, as well as encrypt its contents and hold them to ransom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyP\" style=\"color: #000000;\">The malware could also be used to carry out distributed denial-of-service cyberattacks to bring down websites.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyP\" style=\"color: #000000;\">BlackShades comes complete with model &#8220;ransom notes&#8221; for extorting cash after notifying a user that they have lost control of their computer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyP\" style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Warning!
