{"id":103481,"date":"2014-06-02T16:38:52","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T14:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=103481"},"modified":"2014-06-02T16:44:16","modified_gmt":"2014-06-02T14:44:16","slug":"hacking-android-ios-b-sides-cape-town-security-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/103481-hacking-android-ios-b-sides-cape-town-security-conference.html","title":{"rendered":"Hacking Android, iOS: B-Sides Cape Town security conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Security enthusiasts in Cape Town who were not able to buy tickets to <a href=\"http:\/\/bsidescapetown.co.za\" target=\"_blank\">BSidesCapeTown 2014<\/a> before they sold out, will be happy to know that the organisers have issued an additional 40 tickets.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in attending the conference, which will be held at Dimension Data on 2 Fir Street, Cape Town, can buy tickets from the event\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quicket.co.za\/events\/4589-bsidescapetown-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">Quicket page<\/a> for R120.<\/p>\n<p>The organisers have kindly provided a discount code for MyBroadband readers, reducing the ticket price to R100 by entering the discount code \u201cMyBB2014\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about the ticket sales and number of attendees, conference organiser Istvan Berko said that they had 72 people signed up before the new tickets were issued.<\/p>\n<p>They are expecting 100\u2013120 attendees, Berko said.<\/p>\n<p>While hacking Android and iOS penetration testing is on the agenda,\u00a0conference speakers will also be covering topics such as home automation and securing the Internet with the block chain ledger.<\/p>\n<p>The agenda is on the B-Sides Cape\u00a0Town website, but\u00a0the list of topics is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Insecure out of the box: Leveraging Android manufacturer&#8217;s mistakes to attack corporate networks, by Robert Miller;<\/li>\n<li>iOS Penetration Testing for Developers, by Kyle Riley;<\/li>\n<li>Hybrid Mobile Applications, by David Hartley;<\/li>\n<li>Advanced footprinting techniques using Yeti, by Johan Snyman;<\/li>\n<li>Vulnerability Management &#8211; \u201cwho is swimming naked?\u201d by Bernard Coetzee;<\/li>\n<li>A proposed model for explaining and educating Information and Computer Security principle, by Hendrik Visage;<\/li>\n<li>Leave the lights on: Home automation users left in the dark;
