{"id":10366,"date":"2009-11-09T10:06:00","date_gmt":"2009-11-09T08:06:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-11-09T10:06:00","modified_gmt":"2009-11-09T08:06:00","slug":"strong-broadband-growth-for-vodacom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadband\/10366-strong-broadband-growth-for-vodacom.html","title":{"rendered":"Strong broadband growth for Vodacom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/forumdisplay.php?f=103\">Vodacom<\/a> today announced their interim results for the six months ended September 30, which showed a decline in total South African subscribers from 28,735 million to 28,204 million.&nbsp; There was however an increase in subscriber numbers year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Vodacom SA delivered a robust performance, adding just over 579 000 new mobile customers in the six month period and growing the base 11.7% to 28.2 million customers from a year ago. Gross connections remained strong at 5.6 million but were impacted by the customer registration requirement of the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication- Related Information Act (&ldquo;RICA&rdquo;), which took effect on 1 July 2009,&rdquo; Vodacom said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This resulted in significantly lower gross connections in August and September 2009. Churn reduced from 42.3% to 34.9%, primarily due to ongoing retention campaigns and loyalty programmes.
