Intelsat<\/a> announced in a press release on Wednesday, 11 June 2014 that it has signed a 15-year service agreement with MultiChoice<\/a> on a new satellite to be added to the Intelsat network.<\/p>\n

MyBroadband first reported about the additional satellite capacity that MultiChoice procured<\/strong><\/a> in May.<\/p>\n

The new satellite, Intelsat 36, is expected to launch in late 2016 and will be co-located with Intelsat 20 at 68.5\u02daE. MultiChoice has been the anchor customer at the 68.5\u02daE location since 1995.<\/p>\n

\u201cIntelsat\u2019s continued support will enable us to grow our business, providing viewers with high quality programming and compelling entertainment services,\u201d said Tim Jacobs<\/a>, Group CFO of MultiChoice.<\/p>\n

The Intelsat 36 design will feature Ku- and C-band services, with MultiChoice\u2019s direct-to-home services using the Ku-band payload.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur agreement with MultiChoice is a clear demonstration of our mission to partner closely with the leading media and enterprise customers in each region, to understand their network requirements and then create the infrastructure that will support their growth goals,\u201d said Intelsat\u2019s SVP of global sales, Kurt Riegelman.<\/p>\n
