The 2009 MyBroadband award winners were announced at the website’s annual conference yesterday. The awards form part of the yearly broadband survey where consumers rate their broadband service according to speed, service levels and support. <\/p>\n
Axxess won the 2009 ISP of the Year award for the second year running, closely edging out Web Africa with Cybersmart and SAINET coming in third and fourth. These ISPs stood out from the rest in terms of service levels and general customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n
The 2009 Fixed Broadband Service of the Year award was once again won by Telkom’s 4 Mbps ADSL service, with Neotel’s NeoFlex and NeoConnect Prime services taking second and third place respectively. <\/p>\n
The Mobile Broadband Service of the Year was won by MTN’s 3G\/HSDPA service, beating Telkom’s 3G on the Move and Vodacom’s 3G\/HSDPA offerings which finished second and third respectively. <\/p>\n
The most coveted award, the 2009 Broadband Provider of the Year, was won by Vodacom for the third year running. The award is based on both broadband service levels and the company’s commitment to broadband advances in South Africa, and here users rated Vodacom the best overall broadband provider in the country.<\/p>\n
The 2009 Mampara of the Year ‘award’ was won by ICASA. The regulator has come under severe fire for its poor performance in regulating the local telecoms industry, and consumers reiterated that they expect more from the telecoms authority.<\/p>\n
