Telkom<\/a> released its financial results for the year ended 31 March 2014, revealing that the company currently has 3,618,000 fixed access lines.<\/p>\n

These results show that Telkom lost 182,000 fixed line subscribers over the last twelve months.<\/p>\n

Telkom\u2019s latest fixed line numbers are now the lowest since 1994, when South Africa held its first democratic elections.<\/p>\n

The lower number of fixed lines mean that the number of \u201cfixed access lines per employee\u201d is now 188 \u2013 up from 179 a year ago. This is not good news for the company.<\/p>\n

In addition, fixed-line voice usage was impacted by a decline in number of lines of 4.8%.<\/p>\n
