Research in Motion (RIM) today announced that local BlackBerry users will now have access to the device’s application download platform, also known as the BlackBerry App World.<\/p>\n
The App World application, which will allow users to browse through what is on offer on the platform, is currently available for download locally says RIM.<\/p>\n
“BlackBerry App World lets you personalize your BlackBerry smartphone with a wide range of applications that let you do more with your time while you’re on the go,” says Deon Liebenberg, Regional Director for sub Sahara Africa at RIM.<\/p>\n
“Consumers in South Africa can now easily discover and download a wide variety of free BlackBerry applications directly from their smartphone.”<\/p>\n
The Blackberry App world includes a number of features in order to make navigation easier. These include categories such as games, instant messaging, weather and news, a search filter, reviews, update notifications and recommended downloads.<\/p>\n
This year has seen a number of mobile application based platforms being introduced to the consumer including the Nokia Ovi Store and the Android Open Market. The BlackBerry App World is the most recent addition.<\/p>\n
