{"id":10647,"date":"2009-11-30T10:32:00","date_gmt":"2009-11-30T08:32:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-11-30T10:32:00","modified_gmt":"2009-11-30T08:32:00","slug":"sentech-mywireless-rip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wireless\/10647-sentech-mywireless-rip.html","title":{"rendered":"Sentech MyWireless RIP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sentech first launched its MyWireless broadband service in 2004.&nbsp; At the time Telkom&rsquo;s DSL 512 service with a 3 GB monthly usage limit was the only broadband service on the market, and Sentech&rsquo;s uncapped MyWireless offerings with speeds ranging between 128 Kbps and 512 Kbps enjoyed strong uptake.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately poor service levels dogged the new broadband provider, resulting in a consumer backlash led by a group of MyBroadband members.&nbsp; This damaged the reputation of Sentech&rsquo;s MyWireless service, something which the company never really recovered from.<\/p>\n<p>Further problems with funding &#8211; which meant that Sentech could not really extend its network and aggressively market its broadband offerings &#8211; resulted in a steady decline in subscribers and ultimately the decision to exit the retail broadband market.<\/p>\n<p>Sentech is pulling the plug on its MyWireless service today.&nbsp; The company&rsquo;s BizNet offering will be discontinued on 28 February 2010.<\/p>\n<p>This is however not the end for Sentech in the broadband market.&nbsp; The company said previously that in addition to their core business of broadcasting signal distribution, it will concentrate on offering a wholesale broadband network as a common platform for all service providers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php?t=205246\"><strong>MyWireless discontinued<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; discussion<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sentech is discontinuing their MyWireless and VAS services today<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-10647","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-wireless"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10647"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=10647"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10647\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10647"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=10647"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=10647"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
