{"id":107134,"date":"2014-07-30T07:46:45","date_gmt":"2014-07-30T05:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=107134"},"modified":"2014-07-30T07:50:28","modified_gmt":"2014-07-30T05:50:28","slug":"facebook-shuts-down-gift-shop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/107134-facebook-shuts-down-gift-shop.html","title":{"rendered":"Facebook shuts down gift shop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Facebook Inc will shut its 2-year-old Gifts shop on 12 August 2014, as the world&#8217;s largest social network tests other ways to let consumers buy products on its website.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll be using everything we learned from Gifts to explore new ways to help businesses and developers drive sales on the web, on mobile, and directly on Facebook,&#8221; the company said in an emailed statement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook Gifts opened in 2012 as a way for users to buy gifts such as socks and teddy bears.
