Exposed cyberbully guilty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The controversy around UCT Exposed, a blog that \u201cnamed and shamed\u201d students at the University of Cape Town, has ended in a student being sanctioned by a disciplinary tribunal, a spokesperson for the University told MyBroadband.<\/p>\n<p>UCT Exposed made headlines during September 2013 when it outed a student as an \u201cundercover racist\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It also publicly revealed the marks of some students and made fun of them, and criticised the dress sense of other students.<\/p>\n<p>Two post-graduate students, Kieran Duggan and David Horscroft, and an alumnus, Ben Steenhuisen, took it upon themselves to try and uncover the identity of the writer or writers behind UCT Exposed.<\/p>\n<p>After conducting a sting operation, the trio published what they called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/88073-online-sting-operation-causes-stir-at-uct.html\"><strong>UCT Exposed, Exposed<\/strong><\/a>\u201d on Facebook, linking [name redacted on subject&#8217;s request 9 years later] to the now infamous blog.<\/p>\n<p>While it is understood that it was [this person] who appeared before the UCT disciplinary tribunal and plead guilty, the university declined to identify the student.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe University of Cape Town\u2019s student disciplinary tribunal recently dealt with a case involving allegations of a form of cyberbullying,\u201d UCT said in an e-mailed statement to MyBroadband.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA student pleaded guilty to charges and has been sanctioned,\u201d UCT said. \u201cCommunity service was part of the sanction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UCT said that no action is planned against Duggan, Horscroft, and Steenhuisen for\u00a0linking the student in question to the UCT
