Sentech announced in a press statement on Wednesday evening, 13 August 2014, that it has reached an agreement with employees affiliated to the Communication Workers Union (CWU), ending a two-and-a-half week strike.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis brings an end to the strike and as a result, the company will operate at full capacity effective 14 August 2014,\u201d Sentech said.<\/p>\n
In terms of the agreement, employees who are in the bargaining unit will receive the following:<\/p>\n
In addition, a bonus will be paid out to all the members of the bargaining unit on the basis of the company\u2019s performance during the financial year 2013\/2014, Sentech said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith regards to the contentious issue of the 13th cheque, the parties have agreed on a process that will result in a phased introduction of an enabling facility subject to matters related to definition, form, and structure and funding model being dealt within a prescribed period,\u201d Sentech said.<\/p>\n
Sentech and CWU have agreed that there will be no industrial action in relation to the 13th cheque matter until at least the end of the 2015\/2016 financial year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis provides sufficient time for the two parties to deal with the matter,\u201d Sentech said.<\/p>\n
It went on to extend its appreciation to its customers and stakeholders \u201cfor their patience and understanding during this difficult period.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sentech said that there were no specific disruptions to its normal services as a result of the industrial action.<\/p>\n
