Apple on Thursday posted a fix to problems stemming from a faulty operating system update released a day earlier.<\/p>\n

Instructions on how to reinstall the original operating system – iOS 8 -were posted at Apple’s website. The reinstallation, which can be carried out through iTunes, was meant to fix the problems encountered by customers with new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices.<\/p>\n

“We have a workaround for you if you have an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and you lost cellular service and Touch ID functionality today after updating to iOS 8.0.1,” Apple said.<\/p>\n

The Cupertino, California-based company withdrew the update to the newest iPhone operating system on Wednesday only a few hours after its release when users of the new iPhone complained that after downloading the update they were unable to make phone calls and had problems with Touch ID, a fingerprint sensor used to unlock their phones.<\/p>\n

The update was supposed to resolve glitches, including problems with software for the service HealthKit, in the new operating system released last week. Apple said the health app wouldn’t work when running iOS, but it will be fixed in the upcoming software update.<\/p>\n

The company said it was preparing iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the problems, and will release it as soon as it’s ready.<\/p>\n

Tech blogs had reported only iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users were affected, and Apple appeared to reinforce that in the message posted at its website.<\/p>\n
