Apple has unveiled its latest tablet, the iPad Air 2, at an event in the Town Hall auditorium on Apple’s Cupertino headquarters in the United States today (16 October 2014).<\/p>\n

Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the new iPad Air 2 is only 6.1mm thick \u2013 18% thinner than the first iPad Air.<\/p>\n

Apple also removed the air gap between glass and display – which was present in all previous iPads – in the new iPad Air 2.<\/p>\n

The iPad Air 2 features the new 64-bit A8X chip\u00a0– a version of the A8 chip which has been created specifically for iPad Air 2.<\/p>\n

The device thus offers far more processing power than its predecessor, but still manages to keep up 10 hour battery life.<\/p>\n

The latest iPad also sports an 8MP iSight camera, which includes a new sensor and supports 1080p HD video.<\/p>\n

When it comes to connectivity, the latest iPad supports Wi-Fi (802.11ac with MIMO) speeds of up to 866Mbps, and LTE seeds of up to 150Mbps.<\/p>\n

The iPad Air 2 ships with iOS 8.1, and will cost between $499 and $699 for the WiFi model, and between $629 and $829 for the Wi-Fi and cellular models.<\/p>\n

Pre-orders will start on October 17, and the new iPads will start shipping \u00a0by the end of next week.<\/p>\n
