Vodacom today released its trading statement for the quarter ending 31 December 2009.  According to its latest financial Vodacom Group showed 6% revenue growth to R15 425 million, bolstered by 33.2% growth in data revenue to R1 188 million.<\/p>\n

Vodacom South Africa saw a 7.5% increase in revenue to R13 439 million, and a 35.2% growth in data revenue to R1 160 million.<\/p>\n

  1. 6.0% growth in Group revenue to R15 425 million<\/li>\n
  2. 33.2% growth in Group data revenue to R1 188 million<\/li>\n
  3. 9.5% increase in Group mobile customers(1) to 40.5 million<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    South Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n

    3. 27.1 million mobile customers, up 2.5% year on year<\/li>\n

      2. 27.2% growth in mobile customers to 13.4 million<\/li>\n

      4. Increased usage through successful promotions<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Pieter Uys, Chief Executive Officer, commented:  “This has been a positive quarter for Vodacom, featuring solid overall revenue growth and continued progress in building our data business. Despite a challenging economic environment and the continued impact from RICA, our South African business posted a 7.5% increase in revenue.”<\/p>\n

        “The actions we have taken in our international businesses have shown positive results in the form of improved market positioning. Cost management programmes are also gaining momentum and should provide the basis for improved margin management in the year ahead. Careful allocation of capital to investment projects has resulted in continued strong growth in cash flows.”<\/p>\n
