{"id":114417,"date":"2014-11-18T13:33:44","date_gmt":"2014-11-18T11:33:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=114417"},"modified":"2014-11-18T13:35:35","modified_gmt":"2014-11-18T11:35:35","slug":"nokia-n1-android-tablet-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gadgets\/114417-nokia-n1-android-tablet-announced.html","title":{"rendered":"Nokia N1 Android tablet announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nokia announced the N1 on Tuesday, 18 November, the first Nokia-branded Android tablet, which the company said will be brought to market in Q1 2015 through a brand-licensing agreement with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner responsible for manufacturing, distribution and sales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to bring the Nokia brand back into consumers\u2019 hands with the N1 Android tablet, and to help make sophisticated technologies simple,\u201d said Sebastian Nystr\u00f6m, Head of Products at Nokia Technologies, who announced the N1 at the Slush technology conference in Helsinki.<\/p>\n<p>The device will feature what Nokia calls the Z Launcher, a feature that lets you scribble a letter or two to find content quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Over time the Z Launcher learns what applications are in use, and predicts and highlights the applications consumers are expected to want based on time of day and location.<\/p>\n<p>The N1 will be available in \u201cLava Grey\u201d and \u201cNatural Aluminum\u201d colours, features a 7.9-inch laminated display, and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop on a 2.4Ghz Intel Atom quad-core processor.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_114419\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Nokia-N1-Android-tablet-internals-press-shot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-114419\" class=\"size-full wp-image-114419\" src=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Nokia-N1-Android-tablet-internals-press-shot.jpg\" alt=\"Nokia N1 Android tablet internals - press shot\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Nokia-N1-Android-tablet-internals-press-shot.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Nokia-N1-Android-tablet-internals-press-shot-250x166.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-114419\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nokia N1 Android tablet internals &#8211; press shot<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Nokia said that it plans to have the N1 available for purchase in China during the first quarter of 2015 for an estimated price of $249 (US) before taxes.<\/p>\n<p>It anticipated expanding sales to other markets, Nokia said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Nokia brand, Nokia said that it is licensing the industrial design, Z Launcher software layer, and intellectual property on a running royalty basis to the unnamed OEM partner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe OEM partner is responsible for full business execution, from engineering and sales to customer care, including liabilities and warranty costs, inbound IP and software licensing and contractual agreements with 3rd parties,\u201d Nokia said.<\/p>\n<p>The table below summarises the key specifications of the Nokia N1:<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\"><table class=\"table\" style=\"width: 100%;\" border=\"1\" cellpadding=\"5\">\n<thead>\n<tr style=\"background-color: #002440;
