Eskom says that the week ahead will be \u201ctight with a medium risk of load shedding\u201d and a high risk on Thursday and Friday, 11-12 December.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll provide daily updates,\u201d the power utility said via social media, after it informed the public on Monday morning that Stage 2 load shedding would continue until 10pm \u201cdue to machines not returning to service as expected\u201d.<\/p>\n

It said that the prognosis for load shedding will be low to medium from 15 December 2014 until mid-January 15, \u201cshould no additional risks occur on the system\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cEskom apologise to the nation for the inconvenience of the past few weeks due to load shedding.\u201d said Eskom chief executive, Tshediso Matona at a media briefing on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cEskom has communicated for an extended period to South Africa that the power system is extremely constrained and vulnerable.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the reserve margins being low, we do not have enough capacity to meet demand, necessitating a need for planned rotational load shedding,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n

The group said that the power system will be severely constrained for the next two years, \u201cat least until two units from Medupi and 1 unit from Kusile are running\u201d.<\/p>\n
