{"id":11555,"date":"2010-02-22T17:37:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-22T15:37:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-02-22T17:37:00","modified_gmt":"2010-02-22T15:37:00","slug":"firefox-and-chrome-knock-ie-market-share","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/11555-firefox-and-chrome-knock-ie-market-share.html","title":{"rendered":"Firefox and Chrome knock IE market share"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Management consulting firm Janco recently released its Browser and Operating System Market Share White Paper, showing that in the last 12 months Microsoft&rsquo;s browser market share has continued to erode.&nbsp; &ldquo;Microsoft lost over 6% in the last 12 months while Firefox&rsquo;s market share is unchanged for the last 12 months,&rdquo; Janco said in a press statement.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;On the operating systems side, Windows 7 is being accepted at a pace that is parallel to the way Window XP was in the early 2000&rsquo;s,&rdquo; says Janco Associates CEO Victor Janulaitis.&nbsp; &#8220;The last six months have been a mixed bag for Microsoft. Their browser market share has fallen to a level that they had back in 1998 with no end in sight. At the same time Windows 7 now has 12% of the OS market in less than 7 months since its release.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The top five browser market share rankings are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Microsoft&rsquo;s IE: 64.78%; <\/li>\n<li>Firefox:&nbsp; 17.38%; <\/li>\n<li>Google Chrome:&nbsp; 5.78%; <\/li>\n<li>Mozilla:&nbsp; 1.73%; <\/li>\n<li>Safari:&nbsp; 1.39%. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&ldquo;The positive glow on Google&rsquo;s Chrome was dulled in with the identification of some defects in the way it handles XML pages.
