{"id":11587,"date":"2010-02-25T11:59:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-25T09:59:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-02-25T11:59:00","modified_gmt":"2010-02-25T09:59:00","slug":"mtn-business-launches-server-virtualisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/11587-mtn-business-launches-server-virtualisation.html","title":{"rendered":"MTN Business launches Server Virtualisation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN Business today officially launched its server virtualisation solution.&nbsp; According to the ISP its Server Virtualisation service offers the same features as a conventional hardware based server, without the need for physical hardware; space in a data centre or resources to maintain the servers; as well as a range of additional compelling features.<\/p>\n<p>The MTN Business virtual server solution offers customers access via an MPLS network or the public Internet with services &lsquo;in the cloud&rsquo;.<\/p>\n<p>Edwin Thompson, General Manager of Infrastructure and Technology at MTN Business says; &ldquo;Justifying the adoption of a virtual server solution to our customers is almost unnecessary considering the topics of virtualisation and cloud computing hit the headlines in 2009 and market trends and opinions indicate that it&#8217;s certainly not just hype.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Given the additional bandwidth capacity currently being made available throughout Africa, these trends are only set to increase. Therefore, organisations are seeking value added solutions and offerings that give control over technology decisions to the business user directly to allow for instant expansion or contraction flexibility &#8211; allowing these companies to focus on their core business. Our server virtualisation solution and drive towards collaborative, viable cloud computing technologies are destined to reshape our customers IT infrastructure,&rdquo; says Thompson.<\/p>\n<p>With MTN Server Virtualisation there is no minimum contract term, and billing is designed on a &ldquo;pay as you have used per month&rdquo; model.
