{"id":116260,"date":"2015-01-06T01:45:41","date_gmt":"2015-01-05T23:45:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=116260"},"modified":"2015-01-06T01:48:20","modified_gmt":"2015-01-05T23:48:20","slug":"tiny-samsung-t1-1tb-portable-ssd-launch-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/116260-tiny-samsung-t1-1tb-portable-ssd-launch-announced.html","title":{"rendered":"Tiny Samsung T1 1TB portable SSD launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Samsung announced the launch of a new portable solid state drive (SSD) \u2014\u00a0the T1 \u2014\u00a0at CES in Las Vegas on Tuesday, 6 January 2014, which it said is smaller than an average business card and weighs a maximum of 30 grams.<\/p>\n<p>It is powered by Samsung\u2019s proprietary 3D Vertical NAND technology, the company said in a press release, adding that the T1 is a high-performance memory storage device built for speed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drive has sequential read\/write speeds of up to 450 megabytes per second with a USB 3.0 super speed interface and random read\/write speeds of up to 8,000 inputs\/outputs per second (IOPS), and 21,000 IOPS respectively,\u201d Samsung said.<\/p>\n<p>It also supports AES 256-bit hardware encryption via a user-set password.<\/p>\n<p>Available in three capacities (250GB, 500GB, 1TB), the Samsung T1 uses the exFAT file system by default, which Samsung said means it works effortlessly on both Windows and Mac PCs.<\/p>\n<p>The T1 comes with a three-year limited warranty, has a starting price of $179.99 (US), and will launch in the United States and 14 other European and Asian countries later in January 2015.<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\"><table class=\"table\" style=\"width: 100%;\" border=\"1\" cellpadding=\"5\">\n<thead>\n<tr style=\"background-color: #002440;
