{"id":117967,"date":"2015-02-02T11:16:12","date_gmt":"2015-02-02T09:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=117967"},"modified":"2015-02-02T11:22:46","modified_gmt":"2015-02-02T09:22:46","slug":"raspberry-pi-2-model-b-surprise-launch-sa-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/117967-raspberry-pi-2-model-b-surprise-launch-sa-prices.html","title":{"rendered":"Raspberry Pi 2 Model B surprise launch, SA price"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Raspberry Pi released a new version of its credit card-sized computer on 2 February 2015, dubbed the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B.<\/p>\n<p>The new model has many of the same features as the Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+, but is powered by an upgraded system-on-chip, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2015\/02\/02\/raspberry_pi_model_2\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Register reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Raspberry Pi, this new processor has four 32-bit ARMv7 Cortex-A7 cores with 1GB of RAM, offering up to six times greater performance than its predecessor.<\/p>\n<p>The Register reported that the foundation\u2019s boss, Eben Upton, said that the \u201c6x\u201d claim was based on SysBench test results.<\/p>\n<p>RS Components in South Africa already lists the new Raspberry Pi 2 Model B <a href=\"http:\/\/za.rs-online.com\/web\/p\/processor-microcontroller-development-kits\/8326274\/\" target=\"_blank\">on its website<\/a> for R446.86.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the key specifications are summarised in the table below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\"><table class=\"table\" style=\"width: 100%;\" border=\"1\" cellpadding=\"5\">\n<thead>\n<tr style=\"background-color: #002440;
